Its history is deeply intertwined with the broader history of the Balapur region, which was a significant strategic and economic hub in the Subah of Berar during the Mughal era. Historical Significance & Landmarks• Mughal & Maratha Era: Balapur was recognized in the Ain-i-Akbari as one of the richest parganas (administrative units) in Berar. Gaigaon’s historical context includes its proximity to the Balapur Fort, completed in 1757 by Ismail Khan (Nawab of Achalpur), and the Chhatri of Raja Jai Singh, a pavilion built during the reign of Aurangzeb.• Religious Heritage: The village is home to the Hazrat Makhdum (R.A) Dargah, a site of religious importance.
